Ashes Down Under – The Series Bets Part 2

Ashes Down Under Part 2

So we posted some Ashes Tips for the 5 match series earlier in the week. So now let’s look at any other value in the markets. One bet I have debated with myself for a bit is the Top Australian bowler. Even with missing the 1st Test in England, Harris was able to lead his side for wickets in the summer. Again there is a worry that he will fail to play all 5 of the games. However even if he breaks down he may still be good enough to prove there most effective bowler. I am a fan of Siddle but he’s not bullet-proof either and Harris has proved much more effective this year. Playing just 4 of the 5 tests in England, he was still seven wickets clear of any of his team mates. Lyon could prove a dark horse from those with bigger prices but with the England bowlers difficult to separate, Harris is also worth a nibble in the overall bowler market too.

It was noted that Adelaide really suits runs and there is a market for top-scoring ground with that one at 9/5, and I am hoping that is where the double century comes for us. William Hill also offer up a fine 10/11 for Harris in a match-bet up against Anderson. Someone did note that Siddle has made fast starts in past Ashes so you may even find slightly bigger odds on Harris after the 1st Test, but if he comes through it in one piece I may well double up my stakes confident that he will show it over 5 tests. Some books are doing run lines for batsmen over the series and with my belief that Australia should see some good scores I have placed faith in the new boy Bailey to have enough time at crease to break his line.

For England Bell is a batsman I trust. He has been in fine touch this season and had a great Ashes back home this summer. In 7 matches in England this year Bell had 635 runs to his name. He had 329 in the last Ashes as he did not see much time at the crease with only 6 innings.

Harris can prove a lethal weapon

Lastly lets pick out a bet on Harris that will involve his bat. Harris can be very capable with the bat at times and that shows in his average of  18.29 in Test cricket. I feel he will see enough time batting to put in a good 25+ run innings which will get him close to his total and we all know England have had their issues cleaning up a tail in the past.

Bailey Over 270.5 runs 5/6 ladbrokes

Bell Over  347.5 runs 5/6 ladbrokes

Harris Over 88 runs 5/6 bet365

I managed to find a bet I like a lot with paddy power. Alistair Cook has shown to be in good order in the warm-ups despite some minor issues which I feel he can overcome. Cook is one of the best players for converting 50s into 100; many players struggle along maybe converting 50% of their chances into tons. Cook has made 50 32 times,  and 25 times he converted that to a century. 78% of the time he is converting a 50 into 100 and the 4/9 on offer of him making a century is just too good. Boylesports go 4/7 on Clarke too who we all know is one of the best at converting starts into 100’s.

Cook to make a century 4/7 boylesports

Clarke to make a century 4/7 boylesports

Enjoy the Ashes.
