Tonight, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rolls into Richmond, Va. for the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway. Eleven drivers are locked into the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup with a win. Five spots are up for grabs.
Regardless of who wins, Jamie McMurray cliches his first Chase birth by starting the race. Ryan Newman clinches by finishing 31st or better, 32nd if he leads at least one lap or 33rd if he leads the most laps. Jeff Gordon clinches if he finishes 17th or better, 18th if he leads at least one lap or 19th if he leads the most laps. Clint Bowyer clinches with a ninth place finish or better, tenth if he leads at least one lap or 11th if he leads the most laps.
If there’s a repeat winner, Jamie McMurray, Ryan Newman and Jeff Gordon clinch regardless of finish. Paul Menard clinches with a 38th place finish or better, 39th if he leads at least one lap or 40th if he leads the most laps. Clint Bowyer clinches if he finishes 28th or better, 29th if he leads at least one lap or 30th if he leads the most laps.
Greg Biffle, Kyle Larson, Austin Dillon, A. J. Allmendinger, Casey Mears, Danica Patrick, Tony Stewart, David Ragan, Sam Hornish Jr., Trevor Bayne, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Justin Allgaier must win this race to clinch a spot in the Chase.
