Flying Fillies Stakes – Race Of The Day (Sun 17th August)

3.45 Pontefract – Flying Fillies Stakes

The Race Of The Day is based on the most valuable race from Today’s Horse Racing Meetings and we deliver Horse Racing Tips from each blogger to see if we can come to an agreement on a selection. The statistics for today’s Race Of The Day can be seen below, apart from Overall, Month and Day all data supplied is based on either flat or jumps racing depending on the daily race, all odds are based on SP.

We have a new selection process for our bloggers, instead of relying on someone to add the selections we now have an automatic process in which when a blogger has a selection he/she can now add it to the post themselves which means you get the selections as they are ready, this means that the post is now put up without any selections in order for it to be available for the bloggers to add them.

Also because there is not always someone around to edit the post with the selections we will now leave this up to you to work out, it is simple enough, when the stated closing time has passed then you can decided whether there is a bet or not, each runner will have the number of selections next to it and for each pick it is clear then that is a 1pt stake, so a runner with 3 picks and then two runners with 1 pick apiece would be a 2pt win, if there is not outright pick then it is deemed a No Bet. We advised all bets of £10 per tip clear, so a 2pt win would be a £20 win.

2013 Flying Fillies Stakes: Artistic Jewel (1pt Win) was the outright pick last year and it went on to success at 11.00, both Galician (5th at 4.20) and March (7th at 5.44) received one pick apiece.

Tips Entry for SBB Bloggers closes at 2.00pm

Zipster – Athenian (2 Picks)

Strong race here, Ladies Are Forever would hold strong claims on faster ground and Valonia has put in some good performances of late against better than what she faces today but I am going to go with Athenian, well beaten in a handicap last time out but has already put in a decent effort in her only previous start at this level and this type of track should suit her today, Chris Catlin returns to the saddle where he is unbeaten from two rides, looks a big price at 12s and I am expecting a big run from her today.

Darylrogerson – Valonia (1 Picks)

Valonia has finished a length or so behind Indignant twice now and considering that one was only beaten two lengths by Ladies Are Forever, I think the top weight may struggle to give weight away under penalty. Valonia’s recent form leaves her nicely poised to mount a serious challenge here, with her Listed run at Salisbury three starts ago having plenty of form to it now as the winner has finished a close 3rd in two Group 3?s, the runner up not beatne far as 4th in a Group 2 whilst the fourth won a strong Listed race in Ireland.

Her race 6 days later might have come both too soon and over too short at 5 furlongs and she looked much better when beaten a close 4th in a Goodwood Group 3 earlier this month. 6 furlongs looks her trip and I’ll take her to win this today.

Gecko – Athenian (2 Picks)

Athenian looks to be worth siding with here as has been running well and picked off a nice win at Newmarket recently; can forgive the follow up effort just a week later as the trip was further and the tank was probably empty

Can take advantage of others having a few niggles with trip, ground or penalty and Athenian appeals at these odds as should be a few points lower for me. Ground no problem as has won on most surfaces, has a good win strike rate and all over this trip –  Catlin on board and he has piloted Athenian to victory twice before too

About Author

I have been in the betting game for getting on 10 years now, I was a late comer in the betting scene, never really showed much interest in the first 20 years of my life but then I came across a betting website and that all changed. I have learnt a vast amount over the last 5 years, I used to believe I could pick the winner in every race before I realised I could not and began selective betting which is the only way forward. I mainly stick with the horses but do occasionally stray off to bet on the footie or speedway. I am now 35 years old, born and bred in Ipswich and still here and forever a Tractorboy, work part time for a Cash & Carry and have a dog named Dave! That’s about it from me.
