Premier League Table >

PL Table 4 Dec

7 of the top 8 won in midweek, whilst it was a bad set of games for the bottom half; Burnley however are unbeaten in 4 and Utd are on a good winning streak

Profit for the season is now +4.24pts so we are back in the black at last after a few good weeks!

Newcastle v Chelsea > the leaders got back in stride midweek after drawing a blank at Sunderland – they have had 3 draws in their last 5 away lge games but hard to go against them as they look so solid – Newcastle had a great run which has stuttered a bit with a defeat and a draw midweek at Burnley – they have had three 1-0 home wins so I don’t expect too many goals here but you never know, the sensible call is a 1-0 away victory

Hull v WBA > Hull got a good point at Everton midweek and will look to polish off a Baggies team who are on a losing run currently although Hull also had a 4 run losing streak prior to that Merseyside trip; WBA have been losing to form teams however and should be good enough to get a point here at least. I can see a 1-1 draw but that’s fairly obvious, perhaps a sneaky 2-1 for either team with my favour being on the visitors – not one to bet on but I can see some goals here (both teams have had a few 2-2s in recent time so that probably won’t happen but worth noting for those who like correct scores) – the price on over 2.5 is generous

Liverpool v Sunderland > Liverpool have picked up some confidence from a couple of wins and will expect to win this match whilst Sunderland have just faced the top two so will relish a lower placed team! Sunderland have tightened things up since that shellacking on the south coast a while back but Liverpool will be up for picking up more points here and could be too good

QPR v Burnley > QPR are picking up some points at home and will expect to beat Burnley but their guests are in a spirited run at the moment and could nick a draw here at least – QPR just beat Leicester last home game and may find an improved Burnley team hard to dispose of

Stoke v Arsenal > Arsenal really don’t like this fixture, just 1 win and 4 defeats in 7 visits here in the PL era – some grounds/games have that and it does play in the mind so interesting to see if they can banish that and pick off a Stoke team who have just lost 3 games – should be a routine away win but it’s a weird game at times – Stoke may suddenly find a result here and a home win isn’t a bad shout if you’re feeling contrary

Spurs v Palace > Spurs did well at Chelsea for a while but that weak defence cost them and then it was game over – they controlled possession but never really threatened too much – they are in a decent run of results (flattered by Europa and cup games) although not playing great and are still lacking in confidence – they should be on the front foot and I expect Kane & Soldado upfront with Eriksen just behind and I think they will really have a go at Palace. The visitors aren’t getting many results but are still a dangerous side. If Palace play well and counter with pace then they may make this difficult but Spurs are possibly due a good game and could click and post a resounding win here for a change a I feel Poch will go for the goals here

City v Everton > Everton fell away against Spurs after looking dangerous and suffered from their lack of width and pace as Spurs pushed up and forced them sideways in the middle of the park – City have clicked again it seems and with Aguero in great form, they could run out comfortable winners here – a 3-0 win wouldn’t suprise me as Everton seem to have run out of puff a bit

West Ham v Swansea > Swans had no win in 10 away, then won 3 (last season, start of this) and now haven’t won  in 5 away so they are streaky – they are playing well but not quite good enough to pick up away wins and this won’t be easy as WH have picked their form up well this term, playing much more decent pacey stuff and becoming hard to beat – should be a 2-1 home win but again, this could be a tricky one like a lot this week. Swansea may well do enough to grab a point

Villa v Leicester > Hard to call but Villa have perked up a bit and should be able to clinch the points here against a slumping Leicester side; Villa picked up a crucial win midweek and Leicester keep losing although they have found the net again at least. Villa should be able to make it two on the trot with a 2-1 win here

Southampton v Utd > Saints have been stopped in their tracks with defeats to Arsenal and City – they didn’t score in those either and now face a much improved (form wise) Utd team who will no doubt look to take the points – think this could be BTTS and maybe a 3-2 or so either way as Saints try to get back on track. Utd have been picking up well but this is a decent Saints team. It may be a tight game if the hosts try to tighten up but they can score against this Utd defence and it depends how they defend; after being super-tight they have shipped a few recently

Advised Bets >

Southampton v Utd BTTS  @ 1.79, over 2.5 goals @ 2.0

Villa Win @ 2.42

Spurs +-1 AH @ 2.08

Man City -1.5 AH @ 2.38

QPR v Burnley Draw @ 3.5

Stoke Win @ 4.2

Hull WBA Over 2.5 @ 2.36

Newcastle v Chelsea Under 2.5 @ 1.92
