Friday Night Rugby; Newcastle v Wasps

A little late with this one but with the rain around and conditions not great it’s worth a small bet.

I felt Wasps last week were a little flattered by the scoreline and although unlucky not to win conceding that last minute penalty, Northampton looked a tired side. Wasps are unchanged for this trip up North and will be looking to get back to winning ways. I am still not convinced by them when on the road as Andy Goode really doesn’t play to their strengths. That said he will play the corners well and give Wasps the field position to attack.

Newcastle appear to still be searching for their best side after last year’s promotion and this may be affecting their continuity although their defence seems quite good on the whole with only Leicester, Saracens and Harlequins scoring more than 22 points against them this season in the league. The return of Jamie Helleur in the centres will give a point of attack from them but they are still a way from being a consistent side with lots of options.

In the light of the bad weather and the two 10’s on show tonight in Godman and Goode this could turn out to a real battle of field position and penalty kicks. Neither 10 ignites their backs and puts them into space but do have good kicking games. not many points are scored in Newcastle and the rain  and wind will not help that statistic  tonight with the bookies only going at around 28 for the points total. With all that in mind the tie at some point has to be a worth a few quid.

Best bets

match result – Tie @19’s … if you take this on betfair and it is a duel of the boots then there should be a trade in there.

The other worth taking may be the HT tie ..their 4 home matches have seen HT scores of

Odds are around 10’s for the draw ..

About Author

Hi I am 42 and have been sports betting seriously for the last 4-5 years. My main areas are Rugby Union where I have played a decent level in both England and Wales and also Cricket where I did the same. I like my horses too but really limit myself to the sprints up to a mile in the summer and then the longer distances over fences in the winter with some AW action as well in the colder months.

We would love to hear your opinions, Please leave a comment below
