Giro Stage 18 Cycling Blog
Giro Stage 18 comes off another Modolo sprint master class as he nailed himself another win in this years Giro. The 170km giro stage 18 throws in just the single climb for the riders in a fast down hill finish. The descent looks open enough road for the most part, adiposity while the final 5km are flat. The finish is fast as long as your sprinter can make it close enough over the top of the days climb to catch back on.
Tactics will be interesting, will Astana ride early to push Contador. We might see Tinkoff pace this as suits and restrict who they let in the days break. Jumbo might take an interest in restricting the gap for there team leader to take some possible mountain points.
10/1 the field is all the indication you need that the market does not know which way to go on this one but we will have a go anyway with some of the bigger price talents. Felline is one of the first names that came to mind for this one. He will not have to worry about Nizzolo here and in the time trial we saw how damn strong a rider he is. 66/1 was just too much to ignore on him.
Gilbert keeps showing himself and he already bagged a stage win, he could be smart enough to grab a second with the limited sprint we should encounter here. Those are my two from the pack I did consider JJ Lobato but saw no odds at time of writing. Add in 4 match bets which await the pinnacle prices on.
