It was a relatively good start from a betting perspective for us as Michael Smith, for sale James Wade and Terry Jenkins all recorded impressive wins in their matches. Smith showed his class coming from 2-0 behind to reel off 5 legs in a row to hit a 104.3 3 dart average. The surprise of the day was Adrian Lewis 5-2 defeat to the PDC Youth champion Rowdy John-Rodriguez. The young Austrian was in fine form hitting a crucial 125 finish in the 6th leg. It does seem that the quick fire format is not to Lewis liking as he has struggled to get out of the group stages before. It was a tough day for all the BDO participants with all players apart from Alan Norris losing their opening group games. However arguably the most in form player on the BDO circuit Martin Phillips has not qualified for this event. In this format the two winners of each group play each other while the losers face off in a must-win situation.
Grand Slam of Darts Day 2 Betting Tips
Tony O Shea is an interesting price for me to beat Jamie Caven at 6/4 odds. Silverback is no stranger to this tournament being a former quarter finalist. He came very close to beating Mervyn King yesterday just losing out in the deciding leg. I think the composure he shows might just be enough to get past Jamie Caven whos style can sometimes go against him.
I am going to keep siding with Michael Smith and will back him at 10/11 to beat Peter Wright. Smith showed great resiliance to win his match yesterday from 2-0 down and I think he can score heavier than Snakebite today. Wright can sometimes throw a 1 with his first dart which can put pressure on himself to match his opponent.
Wesley Harms looks like a big price at 13/10 to beat Dean Winstanley in their encounter. Deano did not have a good time on the oche yesterday only having a three dart average of 78.40. He faces Harms who is a very determined player and has plenty of confidence in his ability. I think at the price the Dutchman is value to pull off a victory.
