Horse Racing: Friday 9th February – Aidenldrebin Selection

4.35 KemptonGANACHE (nap)

The selection is a son of Scorpion who is the second foal of an unraced half sister to triple bumper (including on debut)/high-class 2m-2m 4f hurdle (including at Grade 1 level)/high-class 2m 4f-2m 5f chase (including at Grade 1 level) winner Oscar Whisky and 2m 4f hurdle winner Taraval out of a 2m hurdle winning half sister to 12f 3yo Flat/Listed-placed 2m-2m 4f hurdle/chase winner Lucky Baloo, dual bumper/2m hurdle/2m 4f-3m chase winner Donarthy and bumper winner Belgarro. This gelding is trained by Nicky Henderson and saw his sales price increase from €30,000 as a foal to €50,000 as a three-year-old, looking the part on pedigree as the second foal of a half sister to this yard’s fine jumper Oscar Whisky, who won all three starts in this sphere, whilst further back in the family are a couple of other bumper scorers. His leading handler has an excellent record in this particular race, winning it/a division of it five times since 2010 and sending out Bobs Worth to finish second on debut; absolutely no surprise to see this son of Scorpion enhance his yard’s fine record in this race and make a winning start to his career.

About Author

Have been interested in horse racing since 2000, particularly the breeding side of things. Naturally, I enjoy picking apart maiden races given my love of pedigrees, but I am also at home with handicaps and Group races. Spotting potential early is very rewarding, as is picking up on a handicap project from an early stage, with my most satisfying success stories in recent years being Pere Blanc, More Of That, Turtle Watch and Arab Dawn.
