Horse Racing: Sunday 11th February – Aidenldrebin Selection

5.10 ExeterGAUCHO GIL (nap)

The selection is a son of Getaway who is a half brother to Listed-placed bumper (debut)/smart 2m-2m 2f hurdle (including at Grade 2/Listed level) winner Forge Meadow and debut bumper winner Franks A Million, out of an unraced sister to 2m 3f hurdle/Listed-placed 2m 6f-3m 2f chase winner Back On Line and to the dam of dual 2m Grade 1 hurdle winner The Tullow Tank and bumper (debut)/Grade 3-placed 2m 2f-2m 3f hurdle/very smart 2m 3f-4m 2f chase (including at Grade 2/3 level) winner Many Clouds. This gelding is trained by Philip Hobbs and fetched €52,000 at auction, making any amount of appeal on pedigree as a half brother to a pair of debut bumper winners, including high-class hurdler Forge Meadow, whilst he’s out of a full sister to the dam of good jumpers Many Clouds and The Tullow Tank. The fact he starts out in this race looks notable, his stable having won it on four occasions since 2011 including with the smart Fingal Bay; faces a promising rival in Time To Move On, and the hood does sound a slight note of caution, but still no surprise to see this son of Getaway make a winning debut here.

About Author

Have been interested in horse racing since 2000, particularly the breeding side of things. Naturally, I enjoy picking apart maiden races given my love of pedigrees, but I am also at home with handicaps and Group races. Spotting potential early is very rewarding, as is picking up on a handicap project from an early stage, with my most satisfying success stories in recent years being Pere Blanc, More Of That, Turtle Watch and Arab Dawn.
