Horse Racing: Thursday 15th June – Aidenldrebin Selections

2.10 NottinghamARABIC CULTURE (nap)

The selection is a son of Lonhro who is a half brother to 8-8.5f winner Al Jamal, 1m 2yo debut winner Tactfully (later dam of 7f 2yo Listed winner Ambassadorial) and French 10f 3yo winner Main De Fer out of a useful 8-10.5f winning half sister to US 6.5f 2yo Grade 3 winner Untouched Talent (later dam of US 1m 1f Grade 1 winner/Kentucky Derby runner-up Bodemeister) and Grade 2-placed US 6-8.5f winner Top Billing. This colt is trained by Saeed Bin Suroor and catches the eye on pedigree, being a half brother to a pair of 1m debut scorers (one of whom produced the smart juvenile Ambassadorial) and out of a lightly-raced but useful sort who was successful first time out on her debut at three over 1m. He starts out in what doesn’t appear to be the deepest of contests, and his stable can more often than not be relied upon to have its newcomers fit and ready to go; no surprise whatsoever to see this son of Lonhro off the mark at the first time of asking.

2.30 NewburySHIMMERING LIGHT (nb)

The selection is a daughter of Dubawi who is a half sister to French 10f 3yo Group 1 winner Wavering, high-class French/UAE 8-10f winner (including at Group 1 level) Mandaean, 7f 2yo debut winner/Fillies’ Mile third Winters Moon, fairly useful dual 12f 3yo winner Atlantic Tiger, useful French 1m 1f 3yo Repercussion and French 1m 2yo debut winner Golden Heritage, out of a Group 1-placed French dual 1m 2yo winner (including at Group 3 level). This filly is trained by Michael Bell and cannot fail to catch the eye on pedigree, a half sister to a couple of Group 1 winners and several other useful sorts including a pair of debut scorers, whilst the dam was herself a high-class performer. There’s more than enough in her pedigree to suggest she’ll prove capable of making an immediate impact (also bred on the same cross that has produced Al Kazeem, Coronet and Sobetsu), and she comes from a stable in a rich vein of form; with the booking of Ryan Moore signalling intent, a winning start for this daughter of Dubawi would come as no surprise.

About Author

Have been interested in horse racing since 2000, particularly the breeding side of things. Naturally, I enjoy picking apart maiden races given my love of pedigrees, but I am also at home with handicaps and Group races. Spotting potential early is very rewarding, as is picking up on a handicap project from an early stage, with my most satisfying success stories in recent years being Pere Blanc, More Of That, Turtle Watch and Arab Dawn.
