Horse Racing: Thursday 17th November – Aidenldrebin Selection

4.10 NewcastleLOTARA (nap)

The selection, trained by Jim Goldie, is a daughter of Monsieur Bond who made a winning return to action after a 17-month absence in a 5f maiden here in September (9/1 chance), in rear and struggling to go the early pace on, driven and making headway with two furlongs left to run, responding well for pressure and staying on strongly to lead close home and score by a length from Shine Likeadiamond. She was drawn on the ‘wrong’ side when only 14th of 19 to Euxton in a 5f handicap at Ayr next time, and fared better than the bare result implies when seventh of 11 to Caeser The Gaeser in a 6f handicap here 10 days ago, denied a clear run on more than one occasion and looking to have running left in her at the line. The step up to seven furlongs is very much a positive, the step up to this trip more in keeping with her pedigree and it to her credit that she was able to win over the minimum distance here; that previous course experience another plus point and, if finding the gaps coming rather more readily this time, it wouldn’t at all surprise to see this daughter of Monsieur Bond regain the winning thread now.

About Author

Have been interested in horse racing since 2000, particularly the breeding side of things. Naturally, I enjoy picking apart maiden races given my love of pedigrees, but I am also at home with handicaps and Group races. Spotting potential early is very rewarding, as is picking up on a handicap project from an early stage, with my most satisfying success stories in recent years being Pere Blanc, More Of That, Turtle Watch and Arab Dawn.
