Horse Racing: Tuesday 13th June – Aidenldrebin Selection

2.00 SalisburySPOT LITE (nap)

The selection is a son of Compton Place who is the third foal of an unraced half sister to dual 5f 2yo winner (including at Listed level) Janina, useful multiple 5-5.5f winner Gladiatrix (by Compton Place), useful triple 5f winner Mattamia, 5-6f 2yo winner Exotic Beauty and 5f 2yo winner Fletcher Christian out of a Group 2-placed 5-6f winner (including at Group 3/Listed level) who was a half sister to useful 5f 2yo winner Shouting The Odds. This gelding is trained by Rod Millman and saw his sales price rise from 17,000gns as a foal to £28,000 as a yearling, making appeal on pedigree as the third foal of a half sister to several useful sprinters, most notably 5f 2yo debut/Listed winner Janina and also this stable’s useful handicappers Gladiatrix and Mattamia. There is enough in this gelding’s pedigree to suggest he could prove capable of making an immediate impact, his stable’s winning newcomers few and far between but boasting a healthy enough 15 per cent strike-rate with its youngsters at this venue (won this contest 12 months ago); no surprise to see this nicely-bred son of Compton Place go well first time out at likely decent odds.

About Author

Have been interested in horse racing since 2000, particularly the breeding side of things. Naturally, I enjoy picking apart maiden races given my love of pedigrees, but I am also at home with handicaps and Group races. Spotting potential early is very rewarding, as is picking up on a handicap project from an early stage, with my most satisfying success stories in recent years being Pere Blanc, More Of That, Turtle Watch and Arab Dawn.
