Horse Racing: Tuesday 18th April – Aidenldrebin Selection

3.30 Newmarket – NEXT STAGE (nap)

The selection, trained by Saeed Bin Suroor, is a well-bred son of Dubawi who made a winning debut at two back in November 2015 and returned to action last June in a 1m handicap at Doncaster (11/8 favourite, hooded), held up travelling strongly and making good progress over two furlongs out, looking to challenge when badly hampered by the errant winner Defrocked approaching the final furlong, keeping on well without matching that rival to come home 2 lengths adrift. He turned in a listless performance when 6/5 favourite for a 1m handicap on slower ground at Salisbury 18 days later, driven along three furlongs out and soon beaten, eased off inside the final furlong to come home in last behind Storm Ahead (beaten 30 lengths). His absence since then suggests all was not well that day and still rates a bright prospect, remembering his excellent effort in defeat behind subsequent Britannia winner Defrocked; half sister Speedy Boarding excelled herself as a four-year-old and, back on faster ground and with his stable in excellent form, it wouldn’t at all surprise to see this son of Dubawi make a winning return to action.

About Author

Have been interested in horse racing since 2000, particularly the breeding side of things. Naturally, I enjoy picking apart maiden races given my love of pedigrees, but I am also at home with handicaps and Group races. Spotting potential early is very rewarding, as is picking up on a handicap project from an early stage, with my most satisfying success stories in recent years being Pere Blanc, More Of That, Turtle Watch and Arab Dawn.
