Horse Racing: Tuesday 27th June – Aidenldrebin Selection

6.40 Leicester MAKSAB (nap)

The selection, trained by Mick Channon, is a son of Makfi who debuted in a 6f novice event at Newmarket (July) 17 days ago (25/1 chance), steadied towards the rear of the field but in touch in a steadily-run affair, travelling better than most when switched out wide over two furlongs out, soon ridden and keeping on inside the final furlong without ever mustering the pace to mount a serious challenge as he came home in fifth behind Glorious Journey (beaten 3 lengths). It was an encouraging first effort from this colt all things considered, not best placed off just a modest pace and also rather isolated as he attempted to launch a challenge, never nearer than at the finish. He is certain to appreciate the additional furlong on offer here, related to a pair of useful sprinters but by a miler and out of a half sister to Al Kazeem; hailing from a stable whose youngsters invariably improve a good amount for their initial outing and that has decent record with its 2yos at this venue, it wouldn’t at all surprise to see this son of Makfi come good at the second time of asking here.

About Author

Have been interested in horse racing since 2000, particularly the breeding side of things. Naturally, I enjoy picking apart maiden races given my love of pedigrees, but I am also at home with handicaps and Group races. Spotting potential early is very rewarding, as is picking up on a handicap project from an early stage, with my most satisfying success stories in recent years being Pere Blanc, More Of That, Turtle Watch and Arab Dawn.
