Horse Racing: Tuesday 29th November – Aidenldrebin Selection

1.50 NewcastleGLORIOUS POLITICS (nap)

The selection, trained by David Barron, is a nicely-bred son of Delegator who made his debut outing in a 5.5f maiden at York last month (well-supported 9/2 chance), racing towards the rear and somewhat outpaced soon after halfway, ridden with over a furlong left to run and staying on well thereafter to come home sixth of 13 behind Carlton Frankie (beaten 3¾ lengths). The strength behind this colt in the market day is likely to prove telling in time, starting out in a race his handler has won with the high-class Pearl Secret and useful handicapper Handsome Dude, rather taken off his feet at one stage but closing up on the principals pleasingly come the finish without being given a hard time. He hails from a stable whose youngsters more often than not improve for a run, entitled to know a lot more this time around and the additional yardage on offer here also bound to suit; absolutely no surprise to see this son of Delegator show the benefit of that debut experience and come good at the second time of asking.

About Author

Have been interested in horse racing since 2000, particularly the breeding side of things. Naturally, I enjoy picking apart maiden races given my love of pedigrees, but I am also at home with handicaps and Group races. Spotting potential early is very rewarding, as is picking up on a handicap project from an early stage, with my most satisfying success stories in recent years being Pere Blanc, More Of That, Turtle Watch and Arab Dawn.
