Horse Racing: Wednesday 12th April – Aidenldrebin Selection

1.50 Nottingham – VALCARTIER (nap)

The selection, trained by John Gosden, is a son of Redoute’s Choice who made his debut outing in a 7f maiden at Doncaster last October (7/4 joint-favourite), waited with towards the rear of the field until pulled out and asked for an effort over two furlongs out, rather isolated and fading approaching the final furlong to come home in eighth behind Mirage Dancer (beaten 14 lengths). This colt is almost certainly better than he showed that day, racing away from the main action which developed on the other side of the track and not persevered with once held. His market position on debut allied with top connections and a first-rate pedigree are all pointers to a bright future for this son of Redoute’s Choice; open to significant improvement in his second season and returning in a race his top stable has landed with the likes of GM Hopkins and Sacred Act in recent times, it wouldn’t at all surprise to see this colt come good at the second time of asking here.

About Author

Have been interested in horse racing since 2000, particularly the breeding side of things. Naturally, I enjoy picking apart maiden races given my love of pedigrees, but I am also at home with handicaps and Group races. Spotting potential early is very rewarding, as is picking up on a handicap project from an early stage, with my most satisfying success stories in recent years being Pere Blanc, More Of That, Turtle Watch and Arab Dawn.
