Horse Racing: Wednesday 7th December – Aidenldrebin Selection

2.15 HexhamJUST GEORGIE (nap)

The selection, trained by Sue Smith, is a son of Kayf Tara who has proved a consistent sort under Rules without quite being able to get his head in front so far, bumping into useful sorts last term, starting off with a second place finish to Big River on his British/hurdling debut at Kelso (2m) last autumn. He was far from disgraced in defeat behind subsequent Grade 2 third Definite Outcome, subsequent EBF Final winner Barney Dwan and the useful Wade Harper on his next three outings, and wasn’t seen to best effect when never involved on his handicap debut (2m 4f) at Sedgefield on his final start of the campaign. He made his return to action in a 2m 4f novices’ chase at Bangor in October (14/1 chance), waited with in a detached last and jumping perfectly well, shaken up four out and never in contention as he finished last of four behind Value At Risk (beaten 62 lengths). He was brought down at the second fence on handicap debut at Newcastle 11 days ago and remains of significant interest, an opening mark of 113 looking more than fair; it would be rather disappointing if this son of Kayf Tara couldn’t make amends here.

About Author

Have been interested in horse racing since 2000, particularly the breeding side of things. Naturally, I enjoy picking apart maiden races given my love of pedigrees, but I am also at home with handicaps and Group races. Spotting potential early is very rewarding, as is picking up on a handicap project from an early stage, with my most satisfying success stories in recent years being Pere Blanc, More Of That, Turtle Watch and Arab Dawn.
