Denny Hamlin found himself in the right place at the right time on fresh tires* to score the victory in the windy city.
You wouldn’t know the driver of the No. 11 FedEx Toyota had a torn ACL the way he drove from a lap down to victory lane. Teammate Carl Edwards finished runner-up and Kurt Busch rounded out the “podium” in third.
Kyle Busch, the dominant car of the race with 121 laps led, finished ninth.
Jeff Gordon, who ran a damn good race, was caught off when everyone pitted while he stayed out and finished 14th.
Kevin Harvick had a dominant car, but crashed out past halfway and finished 42nd.
I’ll have more on this race tomorrow.
*Correction: Denny Hamlin actually stayed out on the final caution*
