NHL Picks Monday 23rd December
The Penguins kicked off Saturday’s double with a 4-3 win over flames which left it down the Senators who with just over two minutes left in the game led 3-2 but a late Coyotes goal took it to overtime which only lasted just over two minutes with the Coyotes going on to win so no successful bet on Saturday.

*NHL Picks Monday 23rd December – Overtime/Pen wins in brackets

The seems to be a fair number of close looking matches for Monday so it may be a tough day for the betting world if you are looking at outright wins but there are still a couple which stand out and that I shall use for the daily double.

Minnesota Wild At Philadelphia Flyers
00:00 (GMT – Tuesday Morning)

The Philadelphia Flyers are the obvious stand out team based on form, they have now won their last eight consecutive games at home and are now boarding on a playoff spot and they are coming up against a Minnesota Wild team who have recorded just one win from their last eight on the road and this season hold the second worst road record in the Western Conference with only Edmonton Oilers worse off and its their home ice form which has resulted in them sitting in a playoff spot.

Home nine matches on home ice the Flyer have gone on to success in six of those and have lost the other three, two of which were overtime losses so the Flyers have a 0.667 home ice record against the Wild and if you take current form also then there is nothing to suggest that the Wild can pick up the win here so the first part of the double of a Flyers Win.

The second selection was a tougher pick, I could have gone with the Ducks, the Kings or the Sharks who all look to have good chances and the one of them which I am going with is the San Jose Sharks.

Colorado Avalanche at San Jose Sharks
03:30 (GMT – Tuesday Morning)

San Jose Sharks are currently sitting fifth in the Western Conference and have been in good form on home ice over the month and half, they have won seven of their last eight games and they are up against a Colorado Avalanche side who have not been able to build on a promising start and have no become rather inconstant of late and four defeats in their last six on the road would be a concern and they need to start picking up more points.

Since 2009 the Avalanche has visited San Jose thirteen times and have only come away with one win with the hosts winning eight of the games in sixty minutes and the other four in additional time so the Sharks really have had the upper hand against the Avalanche in recent years when on home ice and I am hoping for more of the same as my second pick for the double is for a Sharks Win.

The best odds available for the Flyers is 1.83 from William Hill with the rest generally around 1.80 whilst the Sharks are much shorter and best priced at 1.53 which is from most of the top firms and the best odds for the double come from William Hill who offer 2.80.

Bet: Flyers & Sharks Win Double at 2.80 from William Hill

About Author

I have been in the betting game for getting on 10 years now, I was a late comer in the betting scene, never really showed much interest in the first 20 years of my life but then I came across a betting website and that all changed. I have learnt a vast amount over the last 5 years, I used to believe I could pick the winner in every race before I realised I could not and began selective betting which is the only way forward. I mainly stick with the horses but do occasionally stray off to bet on the footie or speedway. I am now 35 years old, born and bred in Ipswich and still here and forever a Tractorboy, work part time for a Cash & Carry and have a dog named Dave! That’s about it from me.
