In dominating fashion, Nico Rosberg took the top step of the podium for the first time in 2015.
After coming up short to teammate Lewis Hamilton four times this season, Nico Rosberg dominated leading all but two laps on his way to his ninth career victory in Formula 1. Hamilton had a very off race with a lackluster start, slow stops and being stuck behind Sebastian Vettel. He called an audible with a three stop strategy that lifted him to second in the finishing order. The four time world champion rounded out the podium in third. He finished over 40 seconds back of the leader after being ahead of Hamilton for most of the race.
Valtari Bottas and Kimi Raikkonen rounded out the top five. After unveiling a new livery, McLaren had high hopes that they would finally score points today. While Fernando Alonso got a good jump on the initial start, Jenson Button just sank like a rock. It wasn’t to be for the Diaz of Spain, as he was the first retirement of the race.
