Phoenix Stakes – Race Of The Day (Sun 10th August)

4.05 Curragh – Phoenix Stakes

The Race Of The Day is based on the most valuable race from Today’s Horse Racing Meetings and we deliver Horse Racing Tips from each blogger to see if we can come to an agreement on a selection. The statistics for today’s Race Of The Day can be seen below, apart from Overall, Month and Day all data supplied is based on either flat or jumps racing depending on the daily race, all odds are based on SP.

We have a new selection process for our bloggers, instead of relying on someone to add the selections we now have an automatic process in which when a blogger has a selection he/she can now add it to the post themselves which means you get the selections as they are ready, this means that the post is now put up without any selections in order for it to be available for the bloggers to add them.

Also because there is not always someone around to edit the post with the selections we will now leave this up to you to work out, it is simple enough, when the stated closing time has passed then you can decided whether there is a bet or not, each runner will have the number of selections next to it and for each pick it is clear then that is a 1pt stake, so a runner with 3 picks and then two runners with 1 pick apiece would be a 2pt win, if there is not outright pick then it is deemed a No Bet. We advised all bets of £10 per tip clear, so a 2pt win would be a £20 win.

SBB Columns Bloggers Selections

2013 Phoenix Stakes: Both Sudirman (1st at 7.60) and War Command (3rd at 1.39) received one pick apiece which meant no outright pick.

Tips Entry for SBB Bloggers closes at 2.00pm

Zipster – Kool Kompany (2 Picks)

Six of the last nine renewals have gone in favour of the O’Briens but looks to be up against it this year although I do have Dick Whittington ahead of Anthem Alexander for this race but I also have Kool Kompany ahead of the pair of them, five wins from six starts and a dual G2 winner for a runner who has really impressed thus far with exception of his run in the Coventry at Ascot, has already been over to Ireland to win over C&D in impressive style and if he continues to keep putting in performance after performance then he has a great future ahead of him and this is another race which he can land.

Gecko – Kool Kompany (2 Picks)

This excellent 2 yr old can continue a fine campaign by picking up this – has won 5 of 6 starts with just a single blow-out – has won well in good races and both trip and ground are no problem at all – more success for the Hughes/Hannon combo

Winner recently here over this trip and should be able to assert himself again and continue a great year; won’t be found wanting if under pressure either… good chance at nice odds too

Ramsey Deadman – Anthem Alexander (1 Picks)

I began the day thinking I was backing Kool Kompany given all I was hearing about the race – That was until I started looking at the form and thinking that Anthem Alexander simply has far better stuff in the book – I look at Kool Kompany’s last two outings and see nothing that suggests (other than potential improvement) that I should back him to win today – Anthem Alexander also gets the allowance to boot. So I look elsewhere and consider that War Envoy has every chance on being in the mix with Jamie Heffernan on board and start poking around with his form against Capella Sansevero who (Being a nutter apart), would also look to be able to compete with Kool Kompany – So here I am trying to work out which of that pair to take on Kool Kompany with looking for a decent price to play with, when in fact the decent price looks to be the 2/1 about Anthem Alexander – I hope I have made the right choice in uncharacteristically going with the shorter price!

About Author

I have been in the betting game for getting on 10 years now, I was a late comer in the betting scene, never really showed much interest in the first 20 years of my life but then I came across a betting website and that all changed. I have learnt a vast amount over the last 5 years, I used to believe I could pick the winner in every race before I realised I could not and began selective betting which is the only way forward. I mainly stick with the horses but do occasionally stray off to bet on the footie or speedway. I am now 35 years old, born and bred in Ipswich and still here and forever a Tractorboy, work part time for a Cash & Carry and have a dog named Dave! That’s about it from me.
