Trophee Hassan II – Hofmans Golf Picks

With the European Tour off last week for the WGC event we return this week for Trophee Hassan II. This week, we are back in Africa but from Northern Africa as we hit Morocco. We have form to go on from 2010 on when it became a European tour event.

It won’t be an easy test, with plenty sand to be found and the Atlantic winds hitting the course on most holes. Some holes are tree lined offering some protection but its a real test. This par 72 is not a long one so accuracy plays its part rather than distance here. Winning scores can really vary depending on conditions and hopefully he don’t see too much bias, as still conditions could be worth 3-5 shots over windy conditions.

The fairways are quite wide and will not punish the slightly wayward drive, the greens however are harder to hit so going at them from the fairway grass is an advantage. As always with these kind of course sinking putts this will week will give you a good chance. Good wind players should have their day in this one.

I might look to add Robert Rock in play as he was close to selection.

Molinari looks a hot price this week

Trophee Hassan II Picks:

Jaco Van Zyl 40/1 betvictor- Two recent top 6 places have him in good heart.  Lost play off here in 2011 when playing excellent at the weekend. Won plenty on sunshine tour to suggest he can do it on the European tour.

Damien McGrane 125/1 bet365 -A 2nd here in 2012, and patches of form this year, my only 100/1+ placer in 2013 so fond memories. These shorter tracks suit his game.

Simon Dyson 40/1 Betfair Fixed (6places)  – Has come back well since his rules issue and is a multiple winner on tour.  And has had some results on coastal courses. A little improvement should see him pushing the top 5 again.

Edoardo Molinari 40/1 Coral – A top 10 in two of his three starts shows why his confidence is on the up.  Has 6th here two years ago and game in better shape than then. Now fully fit he can go back to winning.
