US OPEN Golf Picks

US OPEN Golf Picks

My US Open Golf picks for this weeks 2nd Major. They play at Pinehurst this year. Its a par 70 course and it is a monster at over 7,500 yards. No Matter the course a US Open is deigned to play though no shoot outs wanted here. Finding greens is key here, many players have pointed to accurate play being important but from a course management point of view, rough in the right place will be a better drive than fairway on the wrong side. With the distance of this course length off the tee is going make things a good bit easier for players.

The Greens are far from simple and have plenty run off areas, much easier a wedge into the flag than a long iron. Good putting as such combined with a good scrambling short game should be what pays off. With first time winners all the rage on Tour this season could we see another take the US Open Golf. The prospect of rain is a hindrance likely to turn this very much into the test McIlory craves.

Betfred and Totesport go 7 places. Just Boyles and some minor books go 5 places.

I will have some cut/top 20 etc bets later.

US Open Golf Picks

Dufner can add a 2nd major to his collection

Hideki Matasuyama 45/1 betvictor  – Winner at Memorial when he put in a solid display. Came 10th last year on Us Open debut. good all rounder who excels in his scrambling skills and no reason he couldn’t go back to back given how well he has done on biggest stage

Brendon Todd 100/1 Betfred- Excellent game around the greens might well serve him well. He is bang in form right now and could well carry it into this week. Has played a few times in the area so understands conditions.

Webb Simpson 45/1 Betfred/Paddy power – Form on these type of courses and a past Us Open winner now starting to find his orm at the right time. Should have plenty on course support to keep him keen.

Billy Horschel 80/1 betfred- Played well placing last year in the US Open, and maybe finally reaping the fruits of his hard work on the course. Coped with the Masters well and could do that here too.

Charl Schwartzel 55/1 Betvictor – Excellent tee to green but does tend to need a few to drop as the putter can let him down, but in tight test like this par saving and 2 putting he could excel.  He is long enough off the tee and his long irons are among the best.

Jason Dufner 50/1 Betfred- A major winner for this blog last year. Often let down by a cold putter. 4th in the last two US Opens so can suit a tight test. Pushed Scott close at Colonial so has recent form.

Graham De Laet 90/1 sky bet – Has gone very close to sealing his maiden tour win with one o the most solid swings and games on tour. On paper with his length off the tee and good all round game he could come good here if taking to the mental side of the test.

US Open Golf Other bets:

Chris Kirk top 20 4/1 bet365 – A winner this season and most notable is he has not missed a cut this season over 18 events he has been in. Not a bad driver and iron play is solid along with his putting.

Jb Holmes top 20 5/1 bet365 – hits the ball and 2nd in qualifying to get in here. Scrambling and putting can come to life and key to doing well here.

Ryan Palmer top 20 5/1 boylesports – Has won on tour and gone very close twice this season already and good that he got in here as it is a test he could enjoy.
