Zurich Classic Golf Tips Preview

So last week at the RBC Hertiage we had some hope with our long shot a 1st Round leader. Knox looked like he might get in the place money while Donald teased us before a Kuchar chip in sealed his win over Donald in the end. Onto the Zurich Classic this week. This event from New Orleans sees us move state once again to Louisiana and a different test from the two weeks gone by.

Its a par 72 playing at over 7,300 yards. Since 2005 the TPC Louisiana has been used every year except the one so their is plenty past form to go on. Their is plenty sand traps to be found and water is in play on a number of holes. The green play quiet quick but are easier to find than last week. Wind is much less of a factor here and the forecast looks good and with the rough playing nicely the scoring will be much lower this week.

It seems driving length and accuracy isn’t the deciding factor this week it can of course not be any harm but it won’t stop you winning. Finding greens has been a good stat to go on here and avoiding the sand. While taking advantage of the par 5s is again important. Of course you want to be with someone who has at least shown a little something with the putter. 8 of last 12 years have seen a first time tour winner. De Laet will be popular this week to get off the mark but at his price good luck to him if he does get it done. Rose is favourite and given his putting woes I would take him on till he proves otherwise.

Paddy Power is again go 6 places this week no one else bothers to join them.

Zurich Classic Golf Tips:

Jonathan Byrd 125/1 skybet – Missed cut last year on just second time here. Has had set backs a lot of last season so can forgive that showing. Best results come on lower score courses like this and fact he was even up their last week is a good sign

Andrew Loupe 125/1 bet365- A local so will take the eye of value hunters. Has a top 5 at recent Valeros Texas Open so showing he can contend at the PGA Tour level. Does well scoring and could suit this track better. Worth a small wager.

Chris Stroud 45/1 skybet – 7 top 20s this year shows he is in good order.  Scores well on par 5s and makes birdies.  Has best of 5th on this course before is very encouraging.

Nicholas Thompson 125/1 bet365 – A player who got involved last week but found it all too much when it really got going. His GIR stats are impressive of late. Has twice been a top 10 here too. Should not be a 125/1 shot.

Cameron Tringale 50/1 paddy power- Just missed the cut last week, might find these calmer conditions to his liking.  Gaming is coming along well and hes finding the greens. His putter has gone well and that will be important this week. Like how he has done on par 5s and looks too big this week. Has two top 10s here.

Kevin Stadler 40/1 bet365- Grabbed his maiden tour proper this season and proving quiet good form wise of late. 8th as Masters despite his putting being bit iffy at times but plays some fantastic irons and should find these greens more suitable.

Matt Every 33/1 paddy power – Won on tour this season at Bay Hill for SBB and has had a number of tp 10s too. Still in good order with his 12th last week so can go well again this week.
