John Smith’s Grand National 2013
Speciality Bets for the Grand National 2013
Along with the normal, arguably more sensible bets to be had on the Grand National, you can be sure that many firms will find some speciality bets to be had for the big race. Our normal betting guide can be found on the What can I bet on in the Grand National? page
Here are a selection of those specialised bets available as this page is written:
NAME THE FAVOURITE!
Betting on which horse will start the SP favourite on the day. In the event of Joint Favourites, dead heat rules will apply
AGE OF THE WINNER
Yes, you can bet on what age the winner of the Grand National might be. For some background information on previous winners, check our Grand National Trends page
You can bet on the winning distance between the winner and the runner up with a couple of firms already.
THE NUMBER OF FINISHERS
This could be viewed as a rather unsavoury bet. imagine if you have bet 14 finishers and 17 are coming to the last fence, are you really going to hope that three fall. Not a nice bet to have, but some will play and if the desire took you, taking the ground conditions into account would see less finishers on softer ground than good, and previous number of finishers can be researched. Not something SBB will be looking at as a betting angle we can assure you
NAME THE WINNING TRAINER
Just name who will train the winning horse. Some trainers will have more entries than others and therefore be a lower price even though they don’t train one of the favourites. Again this bet is for the mathematicians of probability
WILL THERE BE ANY FALLERS AT THE FIRST FENCE
Well we certainly hope not, but quite often the very frenetic pace of the start of the race as position are tried to be gained means they reach the first fence at high speed and inevitably the likelihood of a mistake is high. Again, SBB hope all horses make it over the first fence safely and indeed find safe passage through the entire race
FEMALE RIDDEN WINNER
The Grand National is till awaiting the momentous day hen the first female jockey will ride the Grand National winner you can bet on whether you think 2013 will be that year or not.
IRISH TRAINED WINNER
Will the winner of the race this year be trained in the UK or from Ireland. Remember the last Irish winner was Silver Birch trained by Gordon Elliot in 2007, landing a massive gamble from 100/1 down to a 33/1 starting price.
WINNING STARTING PRICE
Yes, you can even bet on what you predict the winning starting price will be. Will wonders never cease!
