Arnold Palmer Invitational – Hofmans Golf Picks

Arnold Palmer Invitational

We had an each way return with Luke Donald last week as he played very solid on the Sunday I can’t help but feel he is very close to a win on Tour, its been interesting this season that many of my picks have done well in the week or two after been backed so a little more luck and hopefully I might get it right. Onto the next week with the PGA and Hofmans Golf Picks as we hit the Arnold Palmer Invitational

The Arnold Palmer Invitational comes from the lovely Bay Hill course in Orlando Florida. Its a par 72 at just over 7,400 yards.  Its an interesting course with biggish greens which do play fast and their are plenty bunkers to find and water on 9 holes in all. The 18th has been noted as a difficult hole to get par so it is never over till the 72nd hole on the Sunday.

Tiger Woods comes in haven won 3 of the past 5 renewals of this event and aims for a hat trick but he has an array of issues with his game at the moment (in the end Tiger has pulled out of this week). As Tiger showed when winning so often here par 5 performance is very important here. Florida form has been important here so look to players who have showed signs of doing well in the past few events.

I have gone 6 picks this week but just 2  are below the 33/1 mark and I have also had some small plays on 3 outsiders at triple odds for the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Every is a good price for this week

Arnold Palmer Invitational Picks:

Chris Kirk 66/1 betvictor- Has some good course form and game is in good order of late. Won as recently as October. 16th here on only his second start. Fine season could be added to here.

Zach Johnson 25/1 betvictor- Truly accurate off the tee makes up for his lack of distance. Best of 3rd in 2009 also had been top 10 here two other times.

Chris Stroud 66/1 various- A fan of palmer he has done well on another of his courses. Comes in great form last 3 starts all showing strong results and improvement

Matt Every 66/1 various – In such form right now with several top placing s this season. Should excel on the par 5s a big help here going by the past winners stats.

Ryan Moore 40/1 various- A good all round game means Moore always pops up on the short list. He already has a win this season at the CIMB.  He has done well here before 4th in 2012.

Graeme McDowell 20/1 betvictor – Twice been a runner up here so a course that plays to his strengths. Came out 9th in Doral so form is their.  Really feeling McDowell has a big win in him soon.

Arnold Palmer Invitational  outsiders to consider:

Freddie Jacobson 110/1 various – Has enjoyed playing before with two top20 and a top 10. Likes fast greens and coming in with form that knocks on the door.

Jason Kokrak 100/1 various – A big hitter who ranks quiet well in finding fairways too. Played well last week and has done well in big events before.

Pat Perez 100/1 boylesports – Has really been in contention this season, he should enjoy this week with the 3 top 10s he has managed here before. Worth a small play at odds that are too big.

  1. I did Woodland, Horschel and Bubba in this (luckily at prices before Tiger withdrew). However, Scott’s just shot a 62 so that sucks! I agree with you that par-5s are the key here – good luck with your selections.
