4.25 Ascot – Ascot Gold Cup
The Race Of The Day is based on the most valuable race from Today’s Horse Racing Meetings and we deliver Horse Racing Tips from each blogger to see if we can come to an agreement on a selection. The statistics for today’s Race Of The Day can be seen below, apart from Overall, Month and Day all data supplied is based on either flat or jumps racing depending on the daily race, all odds are based on SP. View Monthly Breakdown Stats.
We have a new selection process for our bloggers, instead of relying on someone to add the selections we now have an automatic process in which when a blogger has a selection he/she can now add it to the post themselves which means you get the selections as they are ready, this means that the post is now put up without any selections in order for it to be available for the bloggers to add them.
Also because there is not always someone around to edit the post with the selections we will now leave this up to you to work out, it is simple enough, when the stated closing time has passed then you can decided whether there is a bet or not, each runner will have the number of selections next to it and for each pick it is clear then that is a 1pt stake, so a runner with 3 picks and then two runners with 1 pick apiece would be a 2pt win, if there is not outright pick then it is deemed a No Bet. We advised all bets of £10 per tip clear, so a 2pt win would be a £20 win.

Zipster – Brown Panther (3 Picks)
The front three in the market look to have this between them with the possibility of Royal Diamond also getting involved. Estimate won the race last year and you could almost overlook his run last time out on soft ground, the fast ground today will be to her liking but the break would be a concern, she went into last year’s race on the back of a recent run.
Leading Light has won six of his last seven starts with his only defeat coming when going over to France to run in the Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe, won the St Ledger last year at Doncaster and a previous course winner over two miles, first test at this kind of trip today. Brown Panther has been in superb form this year, unbeaten in two starts and has won both fairly comfortably; a previous winner over two miles but the ground may be on the quick side for him.
Royal Diamond beat a few of these when winning the Long Distance Cup last year but was also beaten by Leading Light last time out at Navan, comes here off an ideal break although he is 0-9 for runs in May/June.
Estimate looks up against it this year and whilst Leading Light holds very strong claims I just cannot get away from Brown Panther, been in superb form and a runner who loves this time of the year, for runs in May & June he has a record of 7 wins from 8 starts! Previous course winner and twice a winner of two miles and I believe he will get the extra half a mile here today and win this race.
Darylrogerson – Brown Panther (3 Picks)
Looks an out and out stayer having won the Goodwood Gold Cup last season and this season won both starts including last time out over 2 miles on soft ground. Versatile concerning the going but doesn’t possess a decent turn of foot, so will be looking to keep up or make the gallop and get plenty off the bridle coming round the bend. Leading Light takes a step up in to the unknown but Brown Panther has shown so much class and willing I can’t not back him at these prices.
Gecko – Brown Panther (3 Picks)
leading Light is clearly a major contender but the vote goes to Brown panther who impressed when winning well a few weeks ago – such a good horse and looks to be more than capable of progressing into a top class stayer – ground looks to be good for a good crack at this and seems to be Leading Light is the only one to beat – Brown panther is in good form, yard are in good nick too and this 6yr old can take this on way to bigger and better things including a trip down under in November perhaps
