Betfred Mile – Race Of The Day (Fri 1st August)

0

3.05 Goodwood – Betfred Mile

The Race Of The Day is based on the most valuable race from Today’s Horse Racing Meetings and we deliver Horse Racing Tips from each blogger to see if we can come to an agreement on a selection. The statistics for today’s Race Of The Day can be seen below, apart from Overall, Month and Day all data supplied is based on either flat or jumps racing depending on the daily race, all odds are based on SP.

We have a new selection process for our bloggers, instead of relying on someone to add the selections we now have an automatic process in which when a blogger has a selection he/she can now add it to the post themselves which means you get the selections as they are ready, this means that the post is now put up without any selections in order for it to be available for the bloggers to add them.

Also because there is not always someone around to edit the post with the selections we will now leave this up to you to work out, it is simple enough, when the stated closing time has passed then you can decided whether there is a bet or not, each runner will have the number of selections next to it and for each pick it is clear then that is a 1pt stake, so a runner with 3 picks and then two runners with 1 pick apiece would be a 2pt win, if there is not outright pick then it is deemed a No Bet. We advised all bets of £10 per tip clear, so a 2pt win would be a £20 win.

2013 Betfred Mile: Fire Ship (1pt Win) was last years outright selections with two picks but could only managed 5th at 13.08 whilst Cape Peron who received one pick was runner up at 6.66.

Tips Entry for SBB Bloggers closes at 2.00pm

Darylrogerson – Steeler (1 Picks)

Steeler fits most of the trends that have a good deal of success in this field with a high career strike and place rate and similarly a strong record over a mile. A very consistent performer who won the Royal Lodge as a juvenile for Mark Johnston. Then switched the Al Zarooni’s stable where he was caught up in the doping scandal and missed his three year campaign although he never actually ran for that stable. Showed he retained a fair deal of his ability in Meydan and similarly when third in the Royal Hunt Cup off a break.

Stable have their string in fine form and this one looks capable of running a big race.

Zipster – Heavy Metal (1 Picks)

My first thought for a selection was Magic City, he runs off the mark of 97 as his last win which came here at Goodwood where he is a three time winner but I really want a runner who will be up with the pace for this race and I expect the usual holdup tactics will be applied here.

Velox was impressive when winning at Sandown last time out and conditions will suit again here today but a 9lb rise in the handicaps for that win makes it very tough for him here today so for me I am going with hat trick seeking Heavy Metal, the yard are in decent nick and are no strangers to winners in this race. Been in fine form with three wins in four starts, only under a 2lb rise for his Ascot success, I would fully expect to see him thereabouts once again at the winning post.

jaydubs – Askaud (1 Picks)

A little bit of a left field selection here given the quality of the race, however Askaud has a habit of running some decent races when conditions suit. 2nd in a listed race in April beating Breton Rock and the Professor, with only Eton Forever getting the better of it. Should be up near the pace which means you will get a run from it and looking at its G-F form (majority of runs on softer ground) you have 1,2,7,2,7,1, while on good ground we also have a couple of wins and listed 2nd. 80/1 seems massive and will be an EW play for me. Belgian Bill missed the break last week and does often run well after a poor run so can’t be discounted.

About Author

I have been in the betting game for getting on 10 years now, I was a late comer in the betting scene, never really showed much interest in the first 20 years of my life but then I came across a betting website and that all changed. I have learnt a vast amount over the last 5 years, I used to believe I could pick the winner in every race before I realised I could not and began selective betting which is the only way forward. I mainly stick with the horses but do occasionally stray off to bet on the footie or speedway. I am now 35 years old, born and bred in Ipswich and still here and forever a Tractorboy, work part time for a Cash & Carry and have a dog named Dave! That’s about it from me.
