CGA Foxhunter Chase 2014
The amateur riders are thrown into the spotlight on the final day at the festival in this CGA Foxhunter Chase, a race which is run over an extended three miles and two furlongs in which the runners will have twenty-two fences to jump on their way to victory. First established back in 1946 and is a race described as some as the Gold Cup for the Amateurs, there are multiple dual winners of this race and Colman Sweeney’s success on Salsify put him as the leading jockey with three wins.

CGA Foxhunter Chase 2014 – Blogger Selections
gghofman – Tammys Hill (Win 7/1), Certain Flight (EW 20/1) & Shy John (EW 33/1)
The stand out bet for me is Tammys Hill so closely matched on form with on the fringe and lots of form tied in with last years winner is pretty encouraging. Further he goes the better for him and a big contender for this.
Both Certain Flight and Shy John could out run their prices here and are worth each way shots at bigger odds.
SeamusShanley – Tammys Hill , Made In Time (Saver)
I shall be siding with Tammy Hill in the foxhunters who got the better of the favourite on the fringe in Leopardstown at the second time of asking over 3 miles proving that he needed the run from his long absence beforehand. He looks like he should appreciate this trip and at the prices I think it is a great value bet to confirm his placings with On the Fringe.
My other selection is the Rebecca Curtis runner Made In Time who did win comfortably in Ludlow last time and does have a promising jockey in Leanda Tickle. He has shown very little is wrong with him over his two runs this season and I feel should go well at the price.
Zipster – Divine Intavention
I have a rule of not changing my mind on selections but I have done so in this race, initially I went with Pearlysteps but concerned about the ground along with the fact that he is 0-9 at left handed tracks so instead I am going with Divine Intavention. A very comfortable winner over a much shorter trip last time out but a runner proven over this kind of trip, will have no problems with the ground and has been runner up in his last two starts here at Cheltenham including in this race last year and there is nothing as good as Salsify in this race this year so I can see him going one better here.
Jaydubs – Oscar Delta
Was winning this race last year until swerving violently after the last fence and deserves another chance given that it was beating the impressive Salsify at the time. It has since lost to Salsify at Aintree and 3rd a month ago at Thurles but 2 x 3rd in this race to go with the unseating when winning last year indicates that it goes well here and will be giving you a run for you money.
Darylrogerson – On The Fringe
Favourite for this in 2011 but that was as a six year old and didn’t seem to get up the hill. Looks a much stronger proposition now at nine and that was proven by seeing off Tammys Hill on penultimate start before just failing to peg back that rival over shorter last time out. Has close form ties with a few of the field but has come out on top in most of their meetings and no reason why he can’t go well once more.
