Volta Ao Algarve
After much debating the Tour of Portugal for its english name is on. Normally a choice for the sky grand tour team, buy because of the difficulties in planning stage they will not be here so Tony Martin who has won here before is favourite due to his strong time trialling abilities
This year it has been cut to just the four days with the time trial on day 4. Stage 1 and 2 should have little say in the end result with Cavendish likely to have a big say in how those two stages go. Stage 2 does have a climb but its early doors to really break up the stage.
Stage 3 contains the usual climb to Alto do Malhao, advice last year martin lost just 40sec on the climb to Porte so its not a very hard climb, medications because Martin was so strong in time trial he still came second on GC. The bad side is that this years time trial is much longer up from 25.8km to 34.8km.
With the time trial extended and being a downhill finish it suits the best at that part of cycling, stage 3 will be about hanging about for the best of them on a climb that is about 3km long and not too steep.
Very few price offerings with just Bet36 and Sportingbet involved right now. Martin a past champion is rightfully the favourite here and its hard see who can stop him in the time trial which will decide the race. Hoping someone else might offer prices before the off.
Westra, Kwiatkowski, Rui Costa, Keldermann and Kloden all can time trial well and will all push for top 3. Castroveijo also tempts as he has really proved his time trialling.
