Cycling Vuelta A Espana Stage 17 Betting Preview and Tips Calahorra – Burgos 189km

Stage 17 Preview:

Keep it brief but Stage 16 on Monday was interesting as Nibali found a 3rd day in a row in the mountains too difficult. Valverde was good to oppose but lets move on to Stage 17 coming off a rest day some riders react better than others.

This is not too testing something Rodriguez who usually hates the day after the rest day. Theirs two climbs suck in second half of day but the final 45km are pretty fast with jut two uphill parts. The 2nd of those late uphill parts could well change things up here. After 110km they hit the first  climb of the day Alto de Pradilla. the 6 km towards the top have an average gradient of 5.4 %.The next climb, sale Alto de Valmala is shorter and its pretty much downhill from their. A likely headwind will be turned here into headwind.

With about 10 km to go they climb Calle Eras de San Francisco short but steep. With the roads narrow enough it could be difficult for the sprinters to get back to the front. A late attack may prove successful if the trains have failed to organise in behind. Matthews is favourite for this but it could well be a lot more open than that. Richeze, Boassen Hagen, Meersmann all have equal chances here.
