Cycling Vuelta A Espana Stage 6: Guijuelo – Caceres 177.3km Betting Tips

Stage 6 Preview

So Stage 5 was set out for the sprinters and we were not let down. The days break threatened for part of the day before the teams got their act together and they brought the last of the break in with under 10km to go. Argos put in a good bit of work to try get  Arndt a win but he failed to break the top 3 coming in 4th. Orica did some good late work and put Matthews into a prefect position to take the win. Meersman was on his wheel but couldnt come past.Richeze did much better coming down the far side to take 2nd from the OPQS man.

Unlike previous days their was no gaps given between the front of the peloton the first 96 riders were given the same time on the stage. It was noticeable that again Stybar did not come home in with the group his focus is surely with helping Meersmann. It was a pity to see up and coming sprinter Markus come home last it looks like their won’t be much for him in this years Vuelta. Again Farrar lacked the punch to reward the work of his Garmin team and really he just isn’t good enough in the sprint these days.

Stage 6 is not diffcult for the most part but has an uphill finish. There are no climbs on the day and the first half is mostly downhill but it does drag up in the 2nd half and the finish is still at 500 metres. The final four km may prove tricky for the big bunch. Six difficult turns within the last four kilometers and of course a handful of roundabouts to navigate. The final turn comes just 400 meters from the line too so advantage to those that go in their first. Matthews is fast right now and Orica have a very good train to look after him, but Meersman is fast and if he can be bit smarter this time he could come round. I will be interested to see  if Richeze can repeat his showing today. Van Rensberg should also be watched for Argos as he has had few good days.

Interesting is the weather for the most part the rain was avoided today but tomorrow it could well affect the run in for the riders expecting some tumbles as a result.  We should see plenty teams keen to chase a break that stands little chance of surviving.
