Premier League Table >

23 Dec

Leicester continue to struggle, Hull and Palace are finding wins hard to come by and Newcastle have slipped up a bit… Man City on a good winning run as the top 4 tick over well

Profit for the season is now +5.01pts LSP after another successful week – strike rate isn’t fantastic but we pick good odds shots rather than shorties! Last week’s highlights included picking the Villa Utd draw and the Sunderland win and we highlighted a few correct scores too

Chelsea v West Ham > recipe for an upset here but I think this may well be the time the Hammers get a wake-up call – they have had a run of great results but I expect that to end with a bang. On form and looking at the table, this shouldn’t be a 1.34 home win shout but the relative strength of the teams is what that price is all about – I’ll go with Chelsea -1.5 AH at evens as I can see a 3-1 win for the Blues

Burnley v Liverpool > Tricky game for both weirdly – Burnley have battled well recently and are no pushover now while Liverpool are still not clicking – I expect some goals in this one as neither look tight at the back. Burnley unbeaten in 4 at home while their vistors have lost 3 of 4 away; I fancy BTTS here and maybe over 2.5 as a 2-1 away win or 2-2/2-3 all look likely for me

Palace v Southampton > This could be a surprise as Palace can pull out a result every now and again – they need to start winning some games too; Saints bounced back after a poor run with a good home win this week – hard to call this one and I will side with the hosts for a sneaky 2-1 win. Note that both have tightened up a bit after some poor results so it could be a dull tight 0-0 draw but I have a feeling for CPFC to win one at last here

Everton v Stoke > Everton will be disappointed with that 3-0 reverse at Saints this week whilst Stoke are unpredictable this season – Everton seem to have their good home form back again after a dodgy spell while Stoke don’t tend to get turned over at all – 1-1 is a sensible call although there will be plenty who will like Everton to take this, maybe 2-1

Leicester v Spurs > Spurs should but you never know with them – Leicester will make it tough but are rooted to the bottom and Spurs have been gopod at winning away at lower-ranked sides in the past couple of years. they have developed a good knack of late winners so another 2-1 win for them would be expected

Man Utd v Newcastle > Newcastle have hit the skids after a great run of results – they have conceded a lot recently and have lost 3 on the spin – Utd stuttered a bit at Villa but should be able to resume their good form here with a 3-0 win – their confidence is high and they can banish the visitors who have had a poor month

Sunderland v Hull > Banker home win for me with Sunderland improving and tighter at the back whilst Hull are on a poor run and are struggling to score let alone win a game (1 win in 14 away, 1 goal scored in their last 5 aways), could well be a huge banana skin but I’ll be backing Sunderland at a good price here as they will relish playing one of the lesser sides after a run of tough fixtures, 2-0 for me

Swansea v Aston Villa > the Swans picked up a useful away win at Hull and will expect to win this but Villa are a tougher nut these days and can take a point here, 1-1 for me

WBA v Man City > routine away win for the in-form City

Arsenal v QPR > QPR are so poor on their travels, this will either be a 4-0 home win or a ridiculously daft 1-0 away win – low odds and an avoid really unless you fancy backing the hosts with -1 or even -2 handicap. HT/FT result for Arsenal is 1.8 which is fairly attractive

Advised Bets >

Sunderland Win @ 2.1

Arsenal HT/FT @ 1.8

Chelsea -1.5 AH @ 2.0

Swansea v Villa Draw @ 3.85

Burnley v Liverpool BTTS @ 1.77

Crystal Palace Win @ 3.9

Man Utd -1.5 AH @ 2.08
