Here is our Preview of the football action for this week’s action in the Premier League – with analysis, comment and free tips as always.

Premier League Table >

EPL 13 Mar

Palace v QPR > awful records on show here with Palace having won just 3 of their last 15 home league games and QPR having lost 13 of their last 14 aways – however, both have shown some promise recently but QPR are still a poor side and I can’t see them surprising the hosts – Palace looked good away at Hammers and will appreciate an easier opponent after playing some good sides recently, a 2-1 home win for me here as QPR are scoring on their travels but they are very weak defensively

Arsenal v West Ham > WH look to have gone off the boil totally and this could be a 6-1 rout – arsenal have lost 1 in 31 home league games and WH are now 6 without a win away; they also look like they have run out of steam this season. I can see a dominant Arsenal winning both halves so maybe backing them HT FT and on the handicap too is a good call as the pure odds are very short

Leicester v Hull > both need the points of course and will view this as a big chance (the old 6 pointer I guess). Not a good game to bet on so I will avoid, but I do think that Leicester might pick up the 3 points by a single goal

Sunderland v Villa > two more struggling teams here and another game that’s hard to call – Villa will be buoyed by two wins over WBA in the past week and can play ok away from home sometimes. A draw looks the most likely result to me and it could even be one of those daft games where it ends up 3-3 or something!

WBA v Stoke > Stoke have quietly gone about their business this season and are nestled in mid table while the Baggies have gone through a manager and are too low for comfort – both have won a few games recently though and will be confident of a result today – both tend to do well against lower placed teams although Stoke have won some big games too. WBA need the points more and that may edge it their way but Stoke are a dangerous team to bet against, or for.

Burnley v City > City were held by Burnley in the reverse fixture but often run away with these sort of games when they travel. A 3 or 4 goal margin may be likely as City have to win and can’t afford to sit back and be over confident

Chelsea v Southampton > Chelsea will no doubt be hugely annoyed by the midweek Euro exit but won’t get much change from a Saints team who have defended well this season and often nick a win by a goal. Chelsea usually do enough to win and should do so today but it could be a nail-biter for them. 1-0 to Jose’s team may be the result for me but another stumble could happen if Saints play to their best

Everton v Newcastle > both are in poor form runs so hard to have much faith in either team – a draw could be a wise call and 1-1 seems likely. Confidence will be low and that usually means less goal threat, perhaps Under 2.5 is the call here

Man Utd v Spurs > Spurs at OT? barely a win there in the last 30 odd years and a mental block too so it will be interesting to see how they cope under Pochettino. Kane scored twice last week but does actually need a rest – he is showing typical signs of burnout and I feel for the lad as he is carrying their front line alone. Eriksen likewise is showing signs of fatigue and there will be a game soon when Spurs just don’t turn up despite their much improved overall fitness. They are also the youngest team in the league so credit is due for their efforts. Utd will be looking to put a Cup exit behind them and will be fairly gung-ho I expect. BTTS is maybe the call but I have a feeling Utd may run out 3-1 winners or so with Rooney being on the scoresheet at least once

Swansea v Liverpool > Liverpool are in very good form and would expect to win but Swansea did beat Utd a couple of weeks back at home. Liverpool should shade this after 5 away wins without conceding a goal but yet another game where I wouldn’t be surprised to see a draw or surprise home win

Advised Bets >

  1. You say “Spurs at OT? Barely a win there in 30 years” I suggest you do your research as Spurs have won their last two fixtures away to Man United.

  2. Indeed they have Curtis, but having supported Spurs for over 40 yrs, I am embittered by our performances up there!

‘barely a win’may have been the wrong phrase but the point was made.. From 1989, Man Utd won 21 and drew 5 of 26 matches at OT against THFC – not a single Spurs win for 23 years… prior to that, it was 1976 when Spurs last won there, so 2 wins in 36 years to be factually correct! hence my point

You are right though, Spurs are looking for a hatrick this year!
