Galway Hurdle – Race Of The Day (Thurs 31st July)

4.55 Galway – Galway Hurdle

The Race Of The Day is based on the most valuable race from Today’s Horse Racing Meetings and we deliver Horse Racing Tips from each blogger to see if we can come to an agreement on a selection. The statistics for today’s Race Of The Day can be seen below, apart from Overall, Month and Day all data supplied is based on either flat or jumps racing depending on the daily race, all odds are based on SP.

We have a new selection process for our bloggers, instead of relying on someone to add the selections we now have an automatic process in which when a blogger has a selection he/she can now add it to the post themselves which means you get the selections as they are ready, this means that the post is now put up without any selections in order for it to be available for the bloggers to add them.

Also because there is not always someone around to edit the post with the selections we will now leave this up to you to work out, it is simple enough, when the stated closing time has passed then you can decided whether there is a bet or not, each runner will have the number of selections next to it and for each pick it is clear then that is a 1pt stake, so a runner with 3 picks and then two runners with 1 pick apiece would be a 2pt win, if there is not outright pick then it is deemed a No Bet. We advised all bets of £10 per tip clear, so a 2pt win would be a £20 win.

2013 Galway Hurdle: The outright selection last year was Rock Critic (1pt Win) who was well beaten back in 15th at 22.80 whilst the only other pick Pique Sous failed to finish the race at 14.55.

Tips Entry for SBB Bloggers closes at 2.00pm

jaydubs – Bayan (1 Picks)

Bayan when last seen over hurdles was 3rd in the Coral Cup. It has since won a 14f race at Leopardstown earlier this month and arrives in prime form for a chance here. It has been lightly raced over hurdles but has recorded stats since winning a maiden 4, 1, 1, 1, 2, 3 with the last 2 at Cheltenham. It finished 2nd at this festival last year over 12f going down by a head and will arrive here just 3 lbs higher than its 2l 3rd in the Coral Cup.

Zipster – Pearl Castle (1 Picks)

Looking at the trends for this race, those who had made under 2 starts in the past 90 days are just 1-100, that would remove 8 of these runners which are Bayan, Curley Bill, The Game Changer, Macnicholson, Sullane Chief, Fergall, Coffee & Fiery Oscar. Those down in trip are just 2-95 and these include Plinth, Parlour Games, Dubai Prince, Purple Bay, Indian Icon, Laudatory, Bordoni, Fiery Oscar and Midnight Game which takes us down to just six runners.

Those who had not recorded a top three finish in their last three starts have a record of 1-54 which takes out Thomas Edison and Hisaabaat whilst 7lb claimers are 0-23 in the race which takes out Takeyourcapoff.

This leaves Darwins Fox, Rawnaq and Pearl Castle and of the three the one which appeals most is Pearl Castle, the ground is ideal for him today, comes here off an ideal break and a previous big field winner, holds a mark of 136 for his handicap debut over hurdles which looks a reasonable mark and one which I believe he will be competitive off here today.

Darylrogerson – Darwins Fox (1 Picks)

Lost little in defeat ti Simenon recently as that rival officially had 10lbs in hand when winning by just over a length from Darwins Fox. Only raised 3lbs for making that rival work all the way to the line leaves him still competitively weighted at a track where travelling close to the pace is a big positive. Good ground and a quick two miles look optimum conditions for Darwins Fox and I think he can go very close today.

Gecko – Dubai Prince (1 Picks)

Have a feeling for Dubai Prince here – has won 3 of 7 hurdles races and also has a good strike rate of wins in career (tends to not bother being placed!)

Last effort was ok at Aintree as had a chance but the extra weight probably told – has done well on this ground and doesnt mind a big field.. has plenty going in favour and trainer has had a few winners in last fortnight

Not a bad shout at around 20/1 currently

About Author

I have been in the betting game for getting on 10 years now, I was a late comer in the betting scene, never really showed much interest in the first 20 years of my life but then I came across a betting website and that all changed. I have learnt a vast amount over the last 5 years, I used to believe I could pick the winner in every race before I realised I could not and began selective betting which is the only way forward. I mainly stick with the horses but do occasionally stray off to bet on the footie or speedway. I am now 35 years old, born and bred in Ipswich and still here and forever a Tractorboy, work part time for a Cash & Carry and have a dog named Dave! That’s about it from me.
