So or the Day 5 we picked up 3 winners nicely priced at 6/1 a 5/6 biggest bet of week and a 9/2 to give us three for the day. Bruff was an original bet i left out so it was a pity about that.
Galway Day 6
A 1 mile 2 year old maiden gets us under way in Galway on Day 6. The selection for this really comes down to 3. And even then market knows that Keyword can not match the other two on the face of things. Likely he will set it up for the other two in the plum draw and while best run came on softish ground worry he was poor other two runs. To be honest its so hard to spilt Iniesta and Leacutter with both been breed to get this. Also both trainers have won this in last few years. The edge goes to Iniesta he has close relation who won here, he also despite getting lower RPR looks like his debut run is the more impressive piece of form.
Prince Aloof 3/1
A 7 furlong race for 2 year old handicaps will see us of for second day. I considered Dove Mountain but with the money coming for Prince Aloof he is my pick in this race off the better of the weights. Won a hard fought race on soft ground at Sligo. 3rd last time killbeggan not far off lead and staying on well to suggest he will get the Hill.
Stuccodor 3/1, Bubbly Bellini 18/1
Pintura is a previous winner here but now is up in the handicap and no longer in the same vain of form that he had back then. A 7 furlong handicap for the older horses follows. Al khan won twice on all weather but has no form to say whether he stays this trip on the heavy ground and the hill of Galway to also deal with. Interesting 5lb claimer did get up on Maundy Money earlier in week. Legal Lyric is 2lbs out of the weights here big step up to go win this.
Bubbly Bellini acts on the ground here and has a string of wins back in 2012. Recent runs more mixed but likely he could be more improved for this. The favourite is my pick Stuccodor has gone up the weights for being a prolific winner this season but its hard to not see him continue his progress. Since just losing out in a mile handicap here last year he has gone unbeaten. 34lbs he has gone up in all but looks a supreme horse. Sharpe test for him but on testing ground should be fine.
Novarov 12/1, Shamiran 25/1
2 mile 5 furlong handicap hurdle here an open contest. Balnaslow is the stable 2nd string on book and has taken bit of hit at the weight to overcome here in a difficult race. Security Breach needs to go and prove he can stay and worry that progress came from running on better ground than today’s. Benemeada is very progressive right now that despite some issues he still got home well at Roscommon. Bit of worry however that he was pulled out earlier in week due to ground probably quicker than today’s. Abou Ben has been more useful on the flat and did not look at that convincing in his run here earlier in week were he was bit keen early on so others preferred.
My two picks are decent prices in this open contest. Novarov is at the higher end of the weights but its deserve with the highest RPR in this race by a bit. Won over 3 miles at this track off 8lbs lower last year so likes it around here, with heavy ground his 3 mile skill should come into play. Reverts back from Chasing now so interesting. Shamiran is another for me who has a price much too big considering his talents. A horse who likes a bit of cut in the ground. Needs to find improvement but with new yard and useful claimer takes off even more weight.
Capitol Hill 15/2
7 furlong handicap for 3 year olds and older. Going take on winner earlier in week Toufan Express as I don’t think he will like the quick repeat. Consonance is a course and distance winner but when given an easier task, hardly that good at the weights now will likely handle ground but not much else to take from the recent runs. Cairdiuil is another one who had a great run last year in September and handled cut but did nothing since and is also at upper range of the weights. Jembatt is lower in weights but best form is also from last year and even improving on last run would need further here. Crystal Wings is interesting in lower weights with some good seconds in past year, but off track for period now since unseating last time out. That leaves Capitol Hills for me. Not out of the places on his last 6 runs including good win 3 runs back. Was close third at this track Wednesday so will handle ground and track and trip hopefully ok if pace high.
Face Value 6/1, Magnolia Ridge 4/1,
A mid range handicap for the 1mile 4 furlong trip and as I have said before this will be a staying test with the ground a bit heavy. Phangio no doubt of interest but going go with two who will likely take to both track and the heavy ground. I will not be betting huge but based on his run earlier in week Face Value is worth keeping onside. All of his flat wins have come on soft or heavy ground. 3rd over 2miles here early in week on quicker ground so expect improvement. Trainer shown bit form this week too. The Favourite Magnolia Ridge is the other pick, relation handle the ground and seems a real stayer based on performances so far. Represents the big yard too.
1m 4 furlong maiden for fillies to be our second last race of the day. Going take on Weld favourite with going this far a question for all that she has some of best form on offer here. My process has led me to the Oxx fillie Smolensk for this one. Mixed readings from both runs at fairyhouse, yard is picking up its game of late after lean spell. Last run suggests she can both stay the trip and handle this ground. And relations won good races as far as 2 miles.
