4.30 Chepstow – HAWRIDGE FLYER (nap)
The selection, trained by Stuart Kittow, is a son of Sir Percy who shaped promisingly on his sole outing at two in a 1m maiden at Newbury last October (66/1 chance), recovering from a tardy start to race prominently, ridden two furlongs out and keeping on well throughout the final furlong to finish third of 14 behind Sound Bar (beaten 3 lengths). He made his return to action in a big-field 10f maiden at the same track 18 days ago (9/1 chance), racing in midfield and a little awkward around the first bend, shaken up over two furlongs out and taking a while to find top stride, finishing off strongly inside the final furlong to take a remote second behind Dubai Thunder (beaten 10 lengths). This colt has shaped on both starts as though he’s all about stamina, taking a while to warm up on each occasion but hitting the line hard both times, switched across gradually as the race began to develop last time and likely to have finished a little closer otherwise. His pedigree also points to significant improvement the further he goes, and, for all this looks a decent maiden for the track, it would be disappointing if this son of Sir Percy couldn’t go very close here.
