jaydubs sprints 11 July 2014, Chester, York, Chepstow

The weather seems to have settled down so we will look back at the sprints today. A little frustrating with some of those highlighted in the previous posts going on to win nto. Fairway to heaven finished last when selected but won at 22/1 nto, Head Space was another that won yesterday after failing at the back end of last month, while Decison by one also won nto at 7/1. It may be worth keeping an eye on some of the other runners previously highlighted in the coming weeks. Bonnie Charlie and Barnet Fair are 2 others that I will be keeping a close eye on and I expect them to win in the next month or two at a bigger price.

Anyway on to today.

1905 Chepstow – Italian Tom around 10/1

This one I feel sure is due to win again soon and on a course it likes and with the ground being right this could be the chance. Its winning marks have been 72, 67, 73, 74, 72, 73, 70, 70, 73, 73, 78, 82, with the last one off 65 at Kempton. 70 therefore presents a very good mark. Luke Morris is back onboard and this is another positive for me.

2040 Chepstow – Sarangoo around 4/1

Sarangoo tends to run well in patches and will go unpenalised for its close win in an apprentice race 4 days ago. It came well clear with Ray of Joy who has also been running well and with Putin over 4l behind in third it could still be too good for this field.

1815 Chester – Orpsie Boy around 4/1

This has a lot going for it today. It may be 11 but in a app ladies race Serena Broterhton is the one to be on. She wins these races with alarming frequency and having replayed the last 3 she has punched out of the stalls and lead to the post. From the 5 draw at Chester if she gets the lead then is going to be hard to peg back. Orpsie boy won lto and has 6 more lbs to carry but was nearly 4l clear and with 2nd placed World Record winning by a length nto then there should be enough left to win this with Carr still banging the winners in.

2050 Chester – Fieldgunner Kirkup around 13/2

Hasn’t won since April 2013 but seems to be off a weight that it can win at again. The ground conditions are good enough for it and from the 1 draw should get a good position just off the pace. Its last 3 winning marks have been 73, 78,and 82 while all 5 of its wins have come on ground a little softer but good is not an inconvenience and it wouldn’t want it faster.

1420 York – Joyeuse around 9/2

There are only a few group class horses in this race and Joyeuse is the selection. It raced in Ireland lto and was held by Majestic Queen which confirmed the form with a good 2nd nto in another group 3 race. Joyeuse seemed to be caught out on the bend and never got chance to get close to the winner but with the straight 6 here it should be able to cover any move. The weight for age allowance will come in handy over Ladies are Forever who won it last year and with others making minimum appeal it should be between the 2.

1605 York – Another Wise Kid around 9/1

Top Boy is favourite here but I just don’t see it. 1 win from 22 on the turf and it is 4lbs up for a win by a neck lto without its 7lb claim. It hasn’t raced well on the firm ground before and I can’t have this as favourite. Line of Reason is worthy of consideration but a 12 lbs rise since its last 2 wins should be enough to anchor it. Another Wise Kid though still looks to have more to come. It won 2 runs ago and was only beaten by the heavily backed Robot Boy lto, however it was coming away from the field late on and a better timed run should see more of a chance. Fitz Flyer was 3rd that day but despite having good cover never really accelerated and although it may place again Another Wise Kid looked to have the beating of it.

Hi I am 42 and have been sports betting seriously for the last 4-5 years. My main areas are Rugby Union where I have played a decent level in both England and Wales and also Cricket where I did the same. I like my horses too but really limit myself to the sprints up to a mile in the summer and then the longer distances over fences in the winter with some AW action as well in the colder months.
