2013 Melling Chase: Sprinter Sacre received all 3 picks (3pt Win) and went on to success at 1.40.

Zipster (LPLLPW) – Rajdhani Express

Nicky Henderson’s runner was far from disgraced when third in the Ryanair Chase at the Festival behind a very good Dynaste and he finished ahead of Boston Bob & Rathlin who he faces again today, last success came three starts ago when running out a very easy winner of the Vulmidas Cup (G3) at Ayr, first visit to Aintree but that does not concern me as the trip is ideal for him and if he puts in the same kind of performance as in the Ryanair Chase then that for me should be good enough to land this race.

Jaydubs (LPLPLW) – Wishfull Thinking

As much as Module and Rajdhani Express appeal neither of them have been to Aintree before and that is a key trend here with 17 of the 23 winners winning or placed at this meeting before. Also 7yo have won this only twice in the last 20 years which have been Sprinter Scare and Voy Por Ustedes. This is a weaker renewal and Module’s 3rd does stand out in the Champion Chase with that a trend also but Wishfull Thinking was hampered down the back straight by Hinterland’s fall and still stormed home to just 3l behind Module who also finished well. Wishfull Thinking has been 2nd in this race 2 years ago when behind Finian’s Rainbow and won the Manifesto the year before so does know its way round here.

Gecko (LLLPPW) – Ballynagour

Ran superbly when won with plenty in hand just over a year ago at Warwick – had two iffy runs but was at best at Cheltenham when winning in style (Byrne Plate) and impressing hugely again – so the class and ability is clearly there and being such a good traveller with strength too, should be able to cope with this step up to grade 1 – ground and trip no problem at all and hopefully we see the best of this every good sort.

About Author

I have been in the betting game for getting on 10 years now, I was a late comer in the betting scene, never really showed much interest in the first 20 years of my life but then I came across a betting website and that all changed. I have learnt a vast amount over the last 5 years, I used to believe I could pick the winner in every race before I realised I could not and began selective betting which is the only way forward. I mainly stick with the horses but do occasionally stray off to bet on the footie or speedway. I am now 35 years old, born and bred in Ipswich and still here and forever a Tractorboy, work part time for a Cash & Carry and have a dog named Dave! That’s about it from me.
