NHL Picks: Top Three for Thursday 12th December

Zipsters NHL Picks

NHL PicksI have been a big NHL fan for many years now, this web in fact it was the first American sport that I first started watching and I took alliance with the Pittsburgh Penguins which led me to following both the Steelers and Pirates also. I have never really got involved with betting in American Sports but thought I would start looking at head-2-head records in the Ice Hockey world to see if it offered up the chance of some potential bets. I will select my top three NHL Picks for the day based on form and recent head-2-head records and see how we get on!

The games are for Thursday 12th December (USA Time) or the early hours of the morning on Friday 13th December (UK Time)

Columbus Blue Jackets at New York Rangers

Friday 13th December, 00:00 (BST)

Bet: Over 4.5 at 1.75 (bwin)

The Rangers has won three of the last five games between these two teams which includes 3-2 and 7-4 victories at home, three of the last five games have ended with 5+ goals. The Rangers have not been in the greatest of form with just one win from their last five games but there has been plenty of goals in the recent games, four of the five have ended with 5+ goals including the last three.

The Blue Jackets have won three of their last four games which includes a couple of shutouts although their last match finished 5-4. Seems to be plenty of goals around so the Over 4.5 market looks the one to be on.

Montreal Canadiens at Philadelphia Flyers

Friday 13th December, 00:00 (BST)

Bet: Philadelphia Flyers to win at 2.15 (Various)

The Canadiens are going along nicely this season, currently sitting in third spot in the Eastern Conference whilst the Flyers have been struggling and are down in thirteenth place but the Canadiens winning streak of five games came to a halt in midweek with a 6-0 defeat to visiting Kings whilst the Flyers come into this match-up having lost their last three matches.

The Flyers have had a decent time of late when coming up against the Canadiens, they have won seven of the last ten games and have won the last four at home, the last six games between the two have all produced 5+ goals. The Canadiens beat the visiting Flyers 4-1 a couple of months ago and whilst form points to the visitors for this the head-2-head record suggest otherwise.

Detroit Red Wings at Tampa Bay Lightning

Friday 13th December, 00:30 (BST)

Bet: Detroit Red Wings to win at 2.10 (BoyleSports)

There is not too much separating these two this season, in fact just one point between them in the Eastern Conference and they are both coming into this game having not won in their last two matches, the Lightning lost to the Jets in overtime before losing to the Capitals in a shoot-out but they have now recorded just one win from their last five matches.

The Red Wings lost 2-1 to the Panthers but they also lost in a shoot-out in their last match again against the Panthers. The head-2-head records makes good reading for Red Wings fans as they have suffered just one defeat from the last nine which includes seven victories, the last three games and also six of the last seven have ended with 5+ goals but there has not been too many goals in their matches of late so the win market is the one which I am siding with.

Good Luck if you are playing the markets this evening and lets see if my NHL Picks are worth following! 🙂

About Author

I have been in the betting game for getting on 10 years now, I was a late comer in the betting scene, never really showed much interest in the first 20 years of my life but then I came across a betting website and that all changed. I have learnt a vast amount over the last 5 years, I used to believe I could pick the winner in every race before I realised I could not and began selective betting which is the only way forward. I mainly stick with the horses but do occasionally stray off to bet on the footie or speedway. I am now 35 years old, born and bred in Ipswich and still here and forever a Tractorboy, work part time for a Cash & Carry and have a dog named Dave! That’s about it from me.

  1. Blue Jackets beat the Rangers 4-2 so the overs came in and the Flyers beat the Canadiens 2-1 so that also came in.

But the Lightning and Red Wings draw 1-1, the Lightning went on to win in a shoot-out.

So 2 from 3 at my first attempt 🙂
