Tour De France Stage 12 Preview

Tour De France Stage 12 Preview

Stage 11 turned out quiet interesting the break for some reason was just 3 men with Elmiger the star among them lasting out longest, but as predicted the real racing got under way from about 60km as the hilly terrain lead to some very attacking cycling. We saw both our tips of Roche and Rodgers get involved in some early attacks and providing great chances for trading. I also added Trentin and Gerrans trades and they went fine, i topped up a little on the Sagan lay as I thought the attacks might out do him.

In the end Gallopin proved too wise and clever, first he tried to go on the downhill, he then went again but this time the chase didn’t corporate and Gallopin stayed away with the chasing pack needing another 200 metres or so to catch on. With Sagan caught by the pack Degenkolb now looking back to his best grabbed a 2nd with Trentin in 3rd. Rui Costa was the bigger loser on the day as he lost over a minute he will be very disappointed about that.

We had a profit of +.35pts on this quiet day. I have grown my outright book with a few euros and really a Nibali fail would open it up quiet nicely.

Tour De France Stage 12 Preview

We now move on to Tour De France Stage 12 which is 185km with a finish in the famous town of St Etienne. This day will prove a little easier than Stage 11 with the climbs a little easier going. The first climb is barely worth writing about and the next is a little longer but no steeper. Then they get a long drag of 15km at just over 3% maybe if ridden hard this could crack a few, the next climb is even shallower and from the top it is still 21km to the finish. Most of the sprinters should be making it. A stage like this can really suit the chasing pack as it can not be easy for the break on the long drags.

Tour De France Stage 12 profile

For this test I would prefer Degenkolb over Sagan given each riders record in top class sprinter but Trentin is taking my eye right now and is a much larger price. I might look to add Bennati in my in play book and that is the height of it. The break might interest me but like today I see a strong chase especially now teams see Sagan is being got at. A wise point was made that Cannondale need to get some one involved in the break for the good of sagans chances.Greipel might get over this one as could Demare but it might be too much for Kittel who will have a focus on keeping his win in Paris.
