Tour Of California 2015 Cycling Blog
Tour of California 2015 gives us some lovely cycling to enjoy before bed time and American racing is never moaned about by us back in Europe and the worlds should be interesting during the evening this year. Both Sagan and Cavendish show up stateside. Sagan is a huge name in the race for his number of wins here and his marketing presence previously for cannondale and now for S-Works bikes.
The key stage is 7, with an opening climb before descending to take on Mount Baldy a real testing day. Its 8 man teams here but a number of squads bring just the 7 with the tricky trip to the West Coast taking out the guts of two weeks from any riding in Europe. Stage 3 should truly tell us whos interested here with some hills and an up hill finish to mix it up. The only one of three stages for the GC in my view is completed by the stage 6 time trial of just under 16km.
Gesink in 2012 and Leipheimer in 2011 are the last two winners on Mt.Baldy. Baldy is a hell of a test and you need to be light and a bit of a goat. Prices are still light on the ground so I may just hold back on discussing the outright for now. I won’t be backing Talansky at the odds he may be a home boy but he has looked vulnerable and I am unsure he has a Tour of California in him.
A pity that bet365 the leader in cycling betting continues to refuse to price Tour of California even just on an outright basis. As such market chances are limited. Gesink is the biggest price of the top 3 and he takes my eye. McCarthy is the only outsider I could make a case for.
