Sedgefield RaceCourse

Here we have the sixth running of this race at Sedgefield and thus far over the past five years the younger runners in the race have had the upper hand with four of the five winners being aged either 5yo or 6yo, seek we have also had three top weighted (11-12) winners and just one winning favourite. We have just one 6yo entry this year which is the current favourite Tregaro which is good on one trend but bad on another and the top weight which has a good record in this race is Sparkling Tara who is currently 7/2.

For me despite only one winning favourite in the last five I am going to go with Mike Sowersby’s Tregaro. This runner did not show too much promise over hurdles and in five starts over them failed to make the frame in any, site the closest that he got to a winner was eighteen and a half lengths off Betavix on his hurdling debut at Worcester however he has produced much better runs since switching to fences. His debut was not the greatest but on his second start over fences at Musselburgh he was second of nine and just over three lengths off the winner and after that run he went on to place in three of his next five starts before coming here to Sedgefield last time out and finally achieving that win which was coming. He won over C&D off a mark of 84 that day and the handicapper has put him up 8lbs in the handicaps for today’s run which is going to make it tougher for him.

This does look a tricky looking field here today despite being just the six runners, Sparkling Tara put in a good run here last month when runner up but beaten just a quarter of a length and despite not winning the handicapper has still put him up 6lbs for that run. Earl Grez drops a pound in the handicaps but is that enough for him to finally pick up a win, he went close off just 1lb lower two starts ago whilst Five Out Of Five is now 13lbs lower than his chasing handicap debut and he should go in very soon. But for me, that win over C&D last time out would of done Tregaro the world of good and I am going with him to defy an 8lb rise in the handicaps for him to make it two from two here at Sedgefield.

BET: TREGARO (2pt Win)

About Author

I have been in the betting game for getting on 10 years now, I was a late comer in the betting scene, never really showed much interest in the first 20 years of my life but then I came across a betting website and that all changed. I have learnt a vast amount over the last 5 years, I used to believe I could pick the winner in every race before I realised I could not and began selective betting which is the only way forward. I mainly stick with the horses but do occasionally stray off to bet on the footie or speedway. I am now 35 years old, born and bred in Ipswich and still here and forever a Tractorboy, work part time for a Cash & Carry and have a dog named Dave! That’s about it from me.
